Whatever is going on is more than mere digital magic. Xi Jinping’s tie changes pattern and hue, and while and there’s one water bottle missing in the before shot, but not in the after shot.

Perhaps the speech was recorded in rehearsal and some of that footage was patched in, or if you really want to let the imagination soar, it was restaged after the fact, with Foreign Minister Wang Yi playing along, to get rid of the pesky “laowai” photobombing the exalted leader.

Interesting footage emerged from the sidelines of the summit during an informal chat between Xi Jinping and Justin Trudeau
