CCTV FOLLIES 11.1 SEEKING TRUTH AND HIDING FACTS
-News blackout on untimely death of Li Keqiang in force -Only person being commemorated these days is Xi, in images, words and popular acclaim -Xi babble a hit at UN -Gaza: IDF footage, Hamas footage
Nothing says “seeking the truth” like a total news blackout on the mysteriously deceased former premier, Li Keqiang.
Xi whitewashes China’s sordid reality with real panache, seeing to it that the top stories are always about him, and only him; in this case the top news is about his latest magazine article in “Seeking the Truth” and his latest Belt and Road book.
What a magnificent, visionary writer!
Judging from CCTV promotions alone, the world’s most prolific freelancer (one of his day jobs is dictator) knocks off several tomes a month and has been doing so for over a year now. In addition, he likes culture, nature and reading in his spare time. He also likes photography, and puts pictures of himself on just about every page.
Xi’s latest instructions to women—to make greater contributions to the socialist modernization of the motherland is also a thinly veiled plea to birth more children and uphold family values.
“The advancement of women's cause not only facilitates individual development of women, but also promotes family and social harmony as well as the development of the country and the Chinese nation, he said. It is necessary to strengthen guidance on young people's perspectives on marriage, childbearing and family, Xi said, urging women's federations to fine-tune and implement supportive birth policies.”
Women from all walks of life proudly parrot their deep appreciation, smoothly
imbibing Xi’s manly view of women’s rights.
Wang Huning, never a cheerful presence, but looking even more gloomy than usual, probably because he knows just how bad things are getting with the megalomaniac boss and all the attendant dirty intrigue, leads a study session on Xi’s so-called ideas.
Former Canadian PM Jean Chretien gets the Han Zheng treatment: cordial, no clout.
A “pilot free trade zone” opens in Xinjiang!
In a further departure from the year-and-a-half long practice in which Russia leads the foreign news (recently it has been eclipsed by CCTV’s intense interest in Gaza) today’s top foreign news is actually Chinese news. The UN, no doubt under heavy pressure from Beijing and its allies, adopts a few phrases of Xi babble about “A community with a shared future for mankind” that includes outer space safety and economic dividends on the home planet.
The lengthy coverage of Gaza today leads with Israeli footage of IDF soldiers in Gaza conducting missions in search of rockets and tunnels.
“The Israel Defense Forces said its soldiers had "fierce battles" with Hamas "deep in the Gaza Strip," adding that Israeli troops attacked hundreds of military targets of Hamas, including anti-tank missile and rocket launching posts below shafts and military compounds inside underground tunnels, and killed "numerous" Hamas militants.”
Scenes of the bomb crater in Jabalia, Gaza are followed by Hamas-produced footage of militant patrols engaged in fierce fighting on the ground.
“Hamas, the Islamic militant group that rules Gaza, said its fighters confronted the Israeli troops in several locations, including the Al-Tawam area and Al-Karama neighborhood in northern Gaza. The Hamas-run Interior Ministry said some Israeli army vehicles advanced toward al-Rasheed Street, apparently trying to cut off Gaza City and the north from the south.”
