Beijing Winter Olympics '22, launched with Xi and Putin side by side, continues to shine its autocratic light -More mass mourning -CCTV on the scene for Gaza show -Train wreck USA! -Canada so divided!

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is the gift from Xi (and Putin) that keeps on giving. Not only was it launched with the proclamation of an unlimted friendship that tacitly greenlighted the “special military operation” which was about to get underway on the borders of truculent, recalcitrant Ukraine, but it also taught Chinese commoners to love winter sports, which pairs nicely with Russo-Chinese friendship.

Xi’s role in all this is so profound he might as well be called Father Winter.

China is hopelessly indebted to Xi, or at least CCTV editors would like viewers to feel that way, so his humble, avuncular visage is often shown in conjunction with scenic mountains and the glowing sun. Even in reruns, especially in reruns…
