CCTV FOLLIES 4.18 Deities and Demons

-News of Xi (good) and news of US (bad) both remarkably absent in 4.18 report. Domestic emphasis on China's glowing economy, foreign focus on Sudan and Mideast. Russia gets lavish air-time as usual.

“China's economy starts 2023 with faster growth, stronger market confidence.”

The Chinese economy is vibrant and robust and glowing and doing very well, or at least CCTV feels a need to say so, and protests that it is, very loudly, with supporting graphics.

Container vessels as far as the eye can see are a staple of CCTV’s reports of robust Chinese trade, and experts are brought in to confirm that they are following the Xi-style “high quality” development road. If it’s good, it’s Xi, even if you don’t see him.

Tractors are a usual symbol of the humming economy, but here a beach scene is thoughtfully inserted too, presumably to show consumer confidence is up.

(If I’m not mistaken, the Snoopy on that tee-shirt is “lying flat.”)
