The Xi-mobile glides out the gates of the ornate Zhongnanhai Palace to cruise down streets cleared of traffic and people. The man among men is on the move, and as the lofty shots below suggest, he’s going out to the sticks of Tongzhou to make China even more beautiful than it already is under his unusually beneficent reign.

The exalted one can be seen greeting his subjects as he disembarks from his luxurious Xi-mobile with seven members of the Politburo in tow. Xi may enjoy the majesty, rank, prerogatives and respect of an emperor of old, but did you ever seen an emperor carry a shovel? Xi is special, special in so many ways, he’s really something else, and yet, he has the common touch!
