CCTV FOLLIES 6.10 Xi is history
Xi is history, history is Xi -Great Wall is great, Great Wall of steel great, too -Putin praises the Russian military, finally admitting it's a war -Kakhovka dam suffered explosion -US still smoky
When CCTV opens a segment with a breath-taking mist-draped view of the Great Wall, you know mention of the paramount leader is not far behind.
“Xi hailed Dunhuang culture as a bright pearl in the long river of world civilization, and precious historical material for the study of the politics, economy, military, culture and art of various ethnic groups in ancient China."
Here Xi not only looks like Mao, but he looks like a Mao statue.
CCTV talk about treasuring history is nice and anodyne; it’s the pictures that count.
“As Xi instructed us, we must focus on cultural relics protection and utilization, as well as cultural confidence and strength.”
CCTV likes showing pictures of sunsets when the wisdom and glory of Xi is invoked.
The images of the old Great Wall fade, images of the new “Great Wall of Steel” come into view as Xi instructs the military to be ready and vigilant.
It now seems to be standard behavior that Xi be greeted with a standing applause before every meeting, even involving the military.
“Xi Jinping has stressed the necessity to strengthen the all-around development of the nation's border troops, build up the capacity for border defense and control, and strive to forge a "great wall of steel" in safeguarding China's borders.”
The indoctrination of the military in Xi Jinping thought proceeds apace.
Xi is schooling the soldiers and they’re lovin’ it. The reverential Xi accolades pour in.
China’s borders will be unwaveringly guarded, like a Great Wall of Steel.
And now, in international news…
“Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukrainian forces achieved no success with their operations at the frontline due to the courage of Russian servicemen, the quality of Russian weapons and proper command organization. The enemy had no success in any area. It is all due to the courage and heroism of our soldiers, the proper organization and management of troops and the great efficiency of Russian weapons, especially advanced weapons"
(TASS translation)
Russia’s still bombing Ukraine
Ukraine’s still fighting back (and still covering their ears as they do so)
CCTV cites report from Norway determining that an explosion did indeed take place.
The CCTV report follows Russian reports about the “dam collapse” for the most part, which allows Russia to claim victimhood, but it also mentions Ukraine relief efforts.
Xinwen Lianbo does not assign blame but treats the story like a natural disaster.
