And what a lot of beauty the CCP has to share! -Xi, the kind of leader that comes along once in 100 years, coolly takes command of 5,000 years of culture -the Belt and Road is the conduit to the world

The lead story today wouldn’t have been out of place in 1979. The National Art Museum of China hangs up a few pictures by foreign artists in celebration of its anniversary and in the spirit of opening up to the world.

Inside this gripping top story we get a glimspe of some “typical” foreign art and a knowledgeable foreigner commenting that China truly believes in artistic cooperation between foreign countries and China.

It’s not much of story, let alone a news development, but there’s a dramatic punchline to the slow set-up. Yet even after all this time of watching CCTV daily, I didn’t see it coming:
